Rebuilding Trust with City Workers
A New Era of Respect, Fairness, and Accountability in Santa Fe Government
As the daughter and granddaughter of proud union members, I understand what labor means—not just in principle, but in practice. I was raised in a home where solidarity, fair wages, and hard work were more than words—they were a way of life. And as Mayor, those values will guide every decision I make.
🏛️ Rebuilding Trust Between City Hall and City Workers
Santa Fe is at a crossroads.
Today, too many essential city jobs are being outsourced to contractors, weakening our internal workforce and eroding trust. This isn’t just inefficient—it’s demoralizing to the people who’ve dedicated their careers to public service.
That ends with me.
🔧 My Commitment to Labor & City Workers
✅ Restructure Before Outsourcing
We are contractor-heavy in departments that should be operated in-house. I will assess city functions and, where appropriate, bring jobs back under city management—ensuring transparency, oversight, and pride in our public workforce.
✅ Invest in City Employees
I will implement a 30% pay increase over four years for city employees through a fiscally responsible approach—reorganizing departments, streamlining top-heavy structures, and redirecting funds to the workers who do the real work.
✅ Respect Union Partnerships
Labor will have a seat at the table in my administration. I will strengthen collective bargaining, protect employee rights, and promote career pathways for advancement and stability.
✅ Smart Exceptions for Contractors
Some specialized or temporary needs may require contracted services—but only when it’s in the best interest of the city and with full transparency.
🤝 A Mayor Who Respects Labor
As your Mayor, I won’t make excuses. I’ll make changes. I will lead a city government that’s efficient, fair, and built on the power of its people—not on outsourcing and short-term fixes.
Let’s restore respect. Let’s build dignity into every department. And let’s show our city employees and union families that they matter again.
